The Wikipedia is the free wiki? based encyclopedia? that anyone can edit. In that respect it is a bit like blog clue which is the free blog overview that anyone can edit. You can read more on the wikipedia at the site itself wikipedia?.
The Wikipedia is maintained by the Wikimedia? Foundation.
Topics often cover Jimmy Wales? the founder who is also referred to as Jimbo?. Sometimes bloggers write posts that attack him and/or the Wikipedia and sometimes to praise.
A fairly constant complaint? is that outgoing links are affixed with the micro format? nofollow and thus no "google juice" is shared with deserving sites. Bloggers like Andy Beard and others advocates of the do follow? movement have suggested that this is unethical.
Most posts seem to be tagged wikipedia by people who mention it in passing often with reference to learning something new. However, from time to time wikipedia makes the news for a high profile defacement or law suit and then it becomes a hot topic for a while.
Like blog clue tag pages many wikipedia pages can be used for tag UR Ls? too. (See the Blog Clue Tag Information page for more on that topic).
When writing up or editing blog clues for tags you can link to it without requiring authorisation for the link by prefixing the link text "wikipedia:" thus [[Wikipedia:topic | topic]]

Apparently so. Dont forget you can throw into the mix the likes of wordpress and yahoo answers as well - apparently both these should be going to the sword any day soon .. Ive often wondered about Google and encyclopedia style info sites - wikipedia being the most popular. No matter what you search for it seems wikipedia is always there in the top 10 of natural search results. And why not. I love wikipedia, its a great concept and, like wordpress, a powerful site not in any way focused on rak

I first wrote about Google Knol when the topic was first aired in December 2007 on Google?s Blog, in my article ?Knol is on a Roll: Google?s new economy for online authors??. A knol is a term Google had created for a ?unit of knowledge? and the announcement created a great deal of interest and speculation, as much for the lack of details as for the excitement at what it might evolve into. Many commentators called it ?Google?s Wikipedia killer? but as I said then, that was simply a lazy and inc

I have decided on what to wear later this evening and I wanted to let my friends know what it was. The problem was I couldn?t quite figure how to spell fuchsia so I Googled fuchsia to see if it was the correct spelling. Then one thing led to another, I was reading about Crayola crayons history. As of the moment there are now 120 Crayola colors, a 1500% expansion from the original eight colors in 1903. My favorite would be bittersweet, because I like the feeling and the color perfectly matches

A friend asked me via Facebook what social media tools we've been encouraging staff to play with at work. (I used to say Web2.0 tools, but have now ceased using that term after reading something on Peta Hopkins Innovate blog .) We could have gone with anyone of a dozen existing programs ranging from 16-43 "things" but decided to quickly tailor a program to our needs and our endorsed strategic directions for our website. Knol is Google?s take on Wikipedia with added moderation, allowances made for author subjectivity, and the opportunity for accomplished experts to reap the benefits of being recognised on the site. Knol went live on 23 July and right now, in my opinion, its fertile ground ripe with potential for anyone to establish themselves as a know-it-all within their chosen field. Danny Sullivan has more on the ins and outs of how it works, Google?s plans to deal with spam on the site and what their hopes

Yep, we're still hating on the politicians today. This time though, it's the pollies who not only want their crackers, but want to edit them on Wikipedia as well. Online Young Journalist of the Year Asher Moses over at SMH (congrats Asher!) tells us that the politicians changing their own entries to remove information that is either incorrect or biased. What's more, Parliamentary Librarian Roxanne Missingham is emailing MPs instructions on how to do it. The problem with this is that it contra
